Baby Gibson

So...a lot has happened in the last several months! Josh and I decided we were ready for a little one in October, and God blessed us with pregnancy in December! So, when I saw you all over the holiday break... I was PREGNANT! I just didn't know it yet :) I figured it out on January 5th and told Josh that same day. I was very shocked when the test said "pregnant". I couldn't believe it... literally. I went to the store and took 3 more tests... just in case! I think everyone was completely shocked for a while. It seems so unreal. On January 11 we had our first appointment with our doctor (Dr. Rizzutto). We didn't get to see the baby, but I learned all the ins and outs of being pregnant. On January 28 we saw the baby for the first time!

That little blob on the right side (with the crosses on the top and bottom) is the baby. The circle is the "yolk". That made it a little more real, especially when we saw the heart beat. It was too early to hear the heart beat since I was only 7 weeks and 2 days pregnant, but it was great to see it thumping away. Our next appointment was on February 22. That day we heard the heart beat. It was so amazing it brought tears to my eyes. I could hear our baby's heart, and it seemed more real that I had a living being inside of me. The heart beat was strong (174 bpm) which made us very happy. Our doctor said everything looked absolutely perfect! Baby was growing perfectly, heart beat was strong, and mommy's tests all came back perfectly! We feel so blessed (and of course a little anxious). Can't believe that in 6 months we will be holding our little baby.

We are anxiously waiting for April because that is when we will know the gender of the baby. We don't have a preference, because we feel like God already has a plan for this baby's life (including what it's gender will be), so we just have to wait now! Although we do love looking at the wive's tales that say what you're having. When we test them they are coming out about half boy and half girl. And it's fun to hear everyone place their bets on what it will be. We are enjoying every minute of pregnancy (although I personally can't wait until the second trimester!)
