We are 40 weeks and 6 days today! I never thought this little girl was going to wait past her due date to enter the world, but it looks like she is taking her time. We could use your prayers right now....
Please pray that we would find a day care soon. Our "plans" aren't always what God has planned, and we are still searching for a place that we like and can afford (the two don't always go together!) We are only 7 weeks away from needing to find this miracle place, so if you could please pray that God would provide the place we need to be. It is so stressful! I hate that we even have to leave her with someone we don't even know when she is so fragile, but I hate even more that I don't have a clue where that place will be! We are looking at home day cares and day care facilities, and just praying that God would direct us to the right place.
Also, pray for our patience.... we have waited so long to hold this baby girl and she's teasing us! We are ready for her to be here, and sometimes it can be emotional to still wake up, and go to work each day. I know it seems a little silly, but it is wearing and can be discouraging if we allow it to. Pray that we would have patience and faith in God's perfect timing. He knows her birth date, and we just need to trust his timing without the frustration and impatience!
Lastly, pray for Blakely! She is about to enter this crazy world, which we are so excited about. Pray that in these last few days she would continue to develop and get ready for the outside world. Please pray that the delivery would go smoothly without complications, and I would be able to deliver her naturally. Please pray that she would come before she gets too big!!
Thanks everyone. We are less than a week away from having our baby on the outside. My doctor is monitoring me this Tuesday, checking the amniotic fluid, Blakely's size, movement of extremities and breathing, and a non-stress test. If everything looks good, we will keep waiting her out until Friday. If she hasn't come by Friday I will be induced Friday morning. It is reassuring to know that we are less than a week away. I pray that she would come before Friday, but I know God has it all worked out. He has her life planned even from the moment of birth. We are so thankful for this miracle God has given us! On a funnier note... I found this article about things NOT to say to someone who is past their due date. It's pretty spot on ;)
1. Now, when was your due date?
2. Your belly sure is huge. or You look like you're about to pop!
- Yes I know... I think the same thing when I look into a mirror. Thank you for confirming.
3. Are you sure it isn't twins? Nope just one... shocking, I know.
4. Have you tried... (Insert a long list of comments and old wives tale on inducing labor)
- Yes to every suggestion you have! I have tried them all. Another variation to this is, "When you get home tonight you should ... (insert suggestion)". Chances are, whatever you're suggesting, I've done it!
5. When will you be induced?
- This I suppose is a legitimate question... but I do have to tell this story quite often during the day!
6. Don't sit there, your water might break!
7. Doesn't the placenta have an expiration date?
8. Maybe they got your dates wrong.
9. When I was pregnant... (insert horror story of placenta aging, losing amniotic fluid, infection, baby going into distress... etc...)
- Really not helpful! Sometimes I may ask someone how their labor went... in that case, please feel free to share. But if I don't ask for details on your pregnancy, and you tell me a horror story about your birthing experience, you are not being helpful!
10. Oh, being over due isn't that bad...
- Uh huh.... right.
Ha ha :) I got a good laugh out of it. I hope you can too. Maybe the next post will have some baby pictures attached!! :)
Oh goodness, I am praying for y'all right now! I'm getting very impatient and it's not even my child! Your list just made me laugh out loud. :) I worked with a girl last year that was 5 foot tall and carried a 9+ lbs baby over a week past her due date. The things people DARED to say to her amazed me. Hang in there, sweet Blakely will here before you know it!! Wish we could come bring you guys dinner when she arrives! :(
