I haven't written a post in a while! So I have lots to share. Blakely is five months now, six months on the 23rd of March. She is still just as precious as ever. Here's a quick update on her: she started baby food... loves carrots and squash, isn't too big on fruit. We tried rice cereal and she has some sort of sensitivity to it, and throws up big time when we feed it to her... so... no more rice! She loves playing, and getting tickled and kissed. She also loves toys. Anything is a toy to her right now. I put toys in her bath and she wanted to hold them all, at the same time. She didn't want them to float. She is really wanting to crawl, but hasn't actually crawled yet. We decided to change her daycare. We got into the CyFair daycare (only for CFISD employees), which is super hard to get into. So we decided to move her there. I think it will be good for her considering she hasn't been sleeping well. I'm talking like, 1-1.5 hours A DAY! Therefore, she isn't sleeping all the way through the night yet (12 hours... I know it's a long stretch for a baby her age, but it will be nice when we don't have a nighttime feeding!) Looking back at the last post, I'm noticing a lot changed. She went through a sleep regression around 4 months and stopped sleeping such long stretches. I think we're getting back into the long stretches now (thanks goodness!) She did sleep from 7pm to 4:45am last night though! So nice!! We took the swaddle away a few weeks ago... it was brutal but I'm so glad we did. She goes all over her crib now. She now says "Mama" and Josh swears she's said "Dada" but I haven't heard it yet :) Last night we gave her a lick of a pickle spear! She grabbed the entire thing and started sucking on it! When we tried to take it away she cried, so we gave it back to her. She loved it!! That's my girl :) Here's a picture...
She can now roll from back to tummy, but has no interest in rolling from tummy to back. She can sit up on her own for a few minutes before she gets bored. She sleeps in her crib, in her room. She LOVES bouncy chairs, and she has grown tired of the floor playmat and bumbo seat... she's too old for those things anymore, or so she thinks. The other night she took the spoon away from me while I was feeding her squash and she actually fed herself!!! She's brilliant, right?! :) I had to put the food on the spoon, but she put it in her mouth and took it out once she had eaten the food. I know I said here's a quick update.... but there's just so much to say about her and how smart she is!
A little update on the other two people that live in the house (Josh and I) :) We decided this year to have a monthly goal, instead of a new year's resolution, because who keeps those anyway. So, in January my goal was to not talk about anyone else. I didn't do too great, but I'm continuing that goal even now. February's goal was no fast food. We did pretty good, not perfect, but good! March's goal is no soft drinks, and neither of us has had a single one! It's really not hard once you get past the first few days. I'm thinking April's goal will be to eat and cook with only fresh foods. There's so much junk out there in pre-packaged food. It will be extremely difficult, but I want to attempt it! I tried this freezer crock pot meal thing where I packaged everything that each meal needed, then just popped it in the crock pot in the morning. It was pretty awesome! I made all the baggies in the same day, so there was only one mess to clean up and one day of chopping veggies. I think doing this will help with April's goal. Josh is taking classes, and doing well. I have a 3rd grade play and 5th grade choir concert coming up, so I'm super busy right now at work!
I am really going to attempt to post on here more often. Thanks for checking on us!!
